After the recent release of the iphone 4S in China and Shanghai there were many reports of chaos and fights breaking out do to the large crowds of people waiting to buy and get there hands on a shiny new iPhone 4s. Due to the uncontrollable crowds and tvery high demand for the phone Apple has been forced to stop all in store sales of the iPhone 4s in China and Shanghai. They have since told customers in these regions to order the phone online.
Here’s a statement from an Apple spokeswoman issued following the incident (via Reuters):
Unfortunately, we were unable to open our store at Sanlitun due to the large crowd. And to ensure the safety of our customers and our employees, iPhones will not be available in our retails stores in Beijing and Shanghai for the time being.
